PREGIS INVESTS IN RESPONSIBLE ENVIRONMENTAL PACKAGING FOR FOOD!
Pregis Rigid Packaging continues to be leading manufacturers of thermoformed plastic packaging for the food service industry in the UK and Europe. Working with retailers, food processors and caterers, they provide top quality, innovative products and services to their customers.
Showing their continuing commitment to the environment, Pregis are now using homogenised rPET (recycled PET) in an increasing number of product lines. As part of an ongoing strategy of investment in environmentally responsible packaging solution development working together with retailers like Marks & Spencer, Pregis is now spending £5 Million on state of the art Thermoforming and Extrusion equipment. This includes Vacurema technology that allows post consumer PET waste to be cleaned in-line to Food quality standards and meet the Marks & Spencer definition of “SuperClean”. The investment will increase rPET capacity at the two Pregis manufacturing plants in England and Scotland and will help meet the increasing demand for rPET packaging in the UK.
Using a minimum of 50% Post Consumer Recyclate, Pregis meets the approved rPET requirements for direct food contact. rPET is a versatile food packaging material having a gas barrier for increased shelf life, superb clarity, strength and rigidity that makes it the material of choice for retailers. rPET is not only made using recycled post consumer waste, it can itself be recycled through approved material recovery facilities.
Recycled PET packaging that can itself be recycled is a responsible path to help reduce landfill waste whilst maintaining the safety and protection of food. Pregis Rigid packaging are committed to help reduce landfill waste whilst offering safe, high quality Packaging to retailers, food processors and caterers.
